If you want to master guitar in a short amount of time then there are a number of things you can do. Many guitarists have learned how to play by teaching themselves although this approach takes a long time and you would be much better off learning from a great online program.
You can also pay a teacher which usually costs at least $15 an hour and that will take months before seeing any real improvement. But with online guitar lessons the videos are already set up from experts.
One of the best programs that stand out is Jamorama. It has gotten a lot of praise from guitar critics.
“Our top choice. Hands down the most comprehensive offering available. Includes over 150 guitar lessons, 400+ sound files, an ear training game, and loads of other bonuses.” – GuitarLessonReview.com
“It is the by far the best of the software-based instruction courses available. Jamorama is also an instant download so no waiting for it to arrive in the mail.” – MastertheGuitar.net
“Our Number One Pick: “Jamorama” is by far and away the best and most informative “learn to play guitar” guide. The information contained is comprehensive, clearly laid out and the bottom line is it works. Jamorama is the mother of all guitar learning packages.” – GuitarLessons.net
However many have stated that it is not the best program if you have a slow internet connection because the lessons are pretty big and comprehensive so as long as you have something like FiOs or Comcast you should be fine.
Another thing critics did not like about it is the fact that they try to sell more stuff after you buy their lessons. All you really need is the lessons. Just make sure you have high speed internet and skip the up sells and you will be good.
The cost is surprisingly low when you compare it to paying a teacher for lessons when all you need is in Jamorama.

Being able to read beginner guitar tabs is a great step forward when you are just starting out. It is far more easy than learning how to read sheet music and very straight forward.
This is a blank tab sheet. There can also be letters for the strings but to make it really easy for you I will use numbers. The first string is the high pitched E. If you are playing righty then it is the bottom one. So that makes the sixth string the thick E string with the low pitch.

Then when you see numbers on the lines those represent the fret numbers. So when you see a 1 on the second string it obviously means to pluck the first fret on the B string. As an example here is an E chord. The zeros are just open strings so you do not have to worry about putting your finger on a fret.

Then you can get into more fancier stuff like hammer ons and slides. But for now just stick with the basics and practice beginner guitar songs. Watch out for my next post for a great beginner guitar tab song.
